Innovate UK will shortly be launching the new £4.5m Hydrogen Storage and Distribution Supply Chain Collaborative R&D Fund.

The £4.5million competition is open for applications from February 2023 and will run until April 2023.

The hydrogen storage and distribution supply chain fund will support the development of hydrogen storage and distribution systems, reducing the associated cost of hydrogen supply chains and encouraging the commercialisation and adoption of hydrogen storage and distribution innovation in the UK.

The competition will provide grant funding for collaborative R&D projects which develop storage and distribution innovation including, but not limited to:

  • pipeline and vessels
  • vehicle transport
  • storage tanks and surface infrastructure
  • monitoring and system controls such as meters, sensors and valves
  • refuelling and blending

Innovate UK KTN will be hosting a briefing webinar on 16th February 2023 to present the competition scope, eligibility and application process. You can register to attend the webinar here.

The competition guidance will also be launched on the Innovate UK funding portal shortly, here.
